Dartford borough mixes older terraced streets in the town, 1930s semis in Wilmington, and a large amount of new housing at Ebbsfleet, Stone, Greenhithe and Swanscombe. Many of those newer homes were handed over with basic turf and a small slab path, which is where much of our work here begins.
Common projects include upgrading new-build gardens with proper porcelain patios and raised beds, widening driveways to fit a second car, and replacing tired front gardens in the older parts of town. Villages such as Longfield, Hawley and Sutton-at-Hone often need larger driveways and boundary walls.

Ground conditions
Former chalk quarries and made ground
Dartford sits on chalk, and much of the Greenhithe and Swanscombe area was quarried for the cement industry — Bluewater itself is built in a former chalk pit. That means some new-build plots stand on backfilled or 'made' ground, which can settle unevenly if the sub-base isn't properly compacted. By the Thames and the River Darent there is soft alluvium. We check the formation level after excavation and build up the sub-base to suit what we find.

New-build gardens and covenants
Homes at Ebbsfleet, Castle Hill and other recent developments can have restrictive covenants or estate management rules covering front gardens, fences and driveways. It's worth checking your deeds before changing a front boundary. Rear-garden patios are rarely affected.
Dropped kerbs through Kent County Council
Kent County Council is the highways authority in Dartford. A new or widened crossing needs KCC approval before any kerbs are lowered, and the council inspects the site. We set out the driveway to suit the approved crossing width.
Green Belt around the villages
South of the A2, villages such as Darenth, Southfleet, Longfield and Hawley sit within the Metropolitan Green Belt. Everyday garden projects are fine, but larger outbuildings or extensions face stricter tests than in the town.
